Khris Pelley

I was born in Houston, TX in 1972. I was raised in a small farming community northeast of Houston, called Huffman. After graduating high school and attempting community college for a little over a year, I decided to enlist in the Army, mainly for college money and a little adventure. In February 1992, I entered OSUT training at Fort Benning, Ga as an 11X (infantryman). Upon graduation, I was stationed with the 1st Armored Division, 4/12INF in Baumholder, Germany. I served there for five years, culminating in a deployment in 1995 to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Endeavor. After my tour in The Balkans, I decided to leave the Army and take my young family back to TX and settle down. I found work in the oil and gas manufacturing industry near Houston and settled into civilian life.

Even as I was living an “ordinary life”, I was ignoring the call of adventure and camaraderie I missed from my army days. In 2003, I decided to take the oath once more and reenlisted, this time as 88M (motor transport operator). I was sent back to basic training and set back to the rank of Private. It was surreal, being back in uniform and training again at the age of 31, but it was exactly what I was looking for.

After graduating 88M AIT, I was again stationed in Germany. This time, I was sent to 51st Transportation Company (PLS) in Mannheim. During my time there, I deployed to combat in Iraq three times (2003-2004, 2005-2006, and 2008-2009). During each of those deployments, I was involved in many instances of enemy contact, including roadside bombs, mortar attacks, firefights and suicide bombers. It has left a lasting impression on me and effects my everyday life.

After my last Iraq tour, I was detailed out to work as an assistant to the Liaison officer from 21st TSC to USAREUR HQ. During my 17 months  in this role, I was introduced to seeing “the big picture” of how the Army works on a Theater Level. I met and worked near very high ranking individuals and gained a better understanding of Army decision making.

Eventually, I had to move forward with my career, and sought out other opportunities. One of those opportunities was to serve in the Army’s new concept of the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) as a Cadre Platoon Sergeant. In my role there, I aided and assisted wounded Soldiers in their journeys to heal and either return to duty, or transition into civilian life. I have never had such a stressful or more rewarding experience in my life. Even as I helped these men and women navigate the bureaucracy and medical paths, I was learning of my own internal struggles with PTSD and how to find healthy coping mechanisms.

When my time in the WTU was over in 2013, as was my time in Germany and Fort Hood, Texas was my next stop. After nearly 3 years of “taking a knee”, I was again assigned to a combat unit in the 1st CAV DIV.

While assigned to the 1/5 CAV I trained, once again, for battle. The training tempo was intense and there were very few days when we were not doing something to prepare for combat.

In 2015, we deployed as a unit to Camp Casey, South Korea. Our time there was filled with intense training and constant alerts, to counter North Korean aggression.

A year after returning to Fort Hood from the rotation, I was again assigned to serve in Korea. Returning to Camp Casey, I was assigned as Senior Truckmaster and later as 1SG of 46th Transportation Company.

I made the hard decision to retire after nearly 24 years, while I was in Korea. I felt that it was time to move on to more peaceful adventures and focus on my own well being. After so many years of looking after my Soldiers, I needed to hang up my boots and look after myself for a change.

I received a 100% disability rating from the VA, due to a host of medical and mental conditions incurred during my service.

I am the proud father of two amazing human beings. My son, Denis is and infantry officer, currently serving as a company commander in Germany. My daughter, Isabell, is a special education teacher in Killeen ISD.

Jason Benton

I was born in Topeka, KS in 1984 growing up there until my family moved to southern California in 1990. Growing up and hearing stories about the Army from my dad from his time as an Artilleryman I knew the milirary was something I always wanted to do.

Upon graduating Paracles highschool in Lancaster, CA. I attented the University of San Francisco recievinga bachelor's degree while partcipating in the school's Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Upon graduation I was comissioned a 2LT in the US Army and recieved orders to Ft Lewis, WA to help train cadets as tehy prepared to become officers themselves. After Ft Lewis I was sent to Ft Sill, OK to attend Basic Officer Leader Course II. Graduating from BOLC II I then proceeded to Ft Eustis, VA to the Army's Transportation Officer Basic Course. Then recieved orders to Mannheim, Germany to my first active unit.

In Germany I was a platoon leader for 3rd Platoon, 51st Transportation company, where we deployed to Mosul Iraq for 15 months. Moving all classes of supply throughout Northern Iraq and to the Turkish and Syrian borders. Our mission set changing from escorting KBR civilians, foreign nationals, and vehicle recovery throughout Northern Iraq.

Upon re-deployment back to germany I become the company executive officer for the 51st Transportation company. Before being promoted to Captain and serving as the assistant support operations officer for the 391st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.

With my time in germany coming to a close my wife and I headed back to the US where I attended the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course at Ft Lee, VA. Graduating from CLC3 I recieved orders to 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division at Ft Campbell, KY.

I served in the Brigade logistics office as the Assistant S4 and deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months while serving in this capacity. I was then selected for company command upon redeployment and was given command of D Troop 1st Squadron 33rd Cavalry. Upon a successful company command, I reflected on if I wanted to stay in the Army or to get out and try something new. I had always wanted to be an Entrepreneur, however I had little experience in this.

I accepted a job as a logistics manager for an electrical contractor and moved to Atlanta, GA to begin. Within a year I was promoted to being the general manager of a subsidiary company for the southeasten US. At this time I realized that I didn't want to stay in corporate America and began to think about ideas for starting my own company. And also looking into formal education.

In 2016 a friend that I knew from my time in the military was selling his biohazard remediation company and I purchased it from him. Effectively running Bio-One Atlanta, and growing it. By chance we were called for a job on a movie set. I realized there were several things they had a need to hire 3rd party vendors. Therefore I started Great Dane Production services to cater to those needs. Building relationships with location managers on television shows and feature films. Eventually selling the company to move.

Wanting to further my education I applied to an MBA program at the University of Notre Dame and was accepted. Graduating from Notre Dame in 2022 and relocating from Georgia to Houston, TX I then started a financial advisory company.

Keeping close contacts with friends from the military I started discussing the possibility of starting a new company with Khris Pelley. Eventually co-founding 15 Whiskey utilizing drones to serve our client's needs.

My greatest achievement in life will always be my family. Marrying Diana, the love of my life in 2007, and raising our two small boys, Michael and Daniel.
